Lead Climbing

If you are an experienced lead climber you will need to be assessed by one of our instructors to obtain a lead pass to climb and belay at Crank. We have instructors available at most times, however you may want to call ahead to make sure there will be someone available to sign you off. 

We do not allow the use of tube-style belay devices. The belay device must be an active assisted-braking device. The following devices are allowed:

– Petzl GriGri, GriGri+ and NEOX

– Beal Birdie

– Madrock Lifeguard

– Edelrid Pinch

– Trango Vergo

– Camp Matik

– Wild Country Revo
